Whether they are FREE or $0.99, Ghost Hunting Apps have become very popular, so I decided to try a few of them out to see if they would be of any use on an investigation.
First of all, these are just APPS......for a phone or ipad.......and they want us to believe that they can detect ghosts...........O..K
These devices do however have very sophisticated sensors built into them, with probably the best being it's Capacitive Touch Sensor, or touchscreen. This capacitive touch sensor allows us to simply touch the screen to control what we want to do, and it senses this because our bodies are conductive. Actually it will work with anything that is conductive or has a dielectric different from that of air. This sensor could be very useful for having a spirit touch the screen to communicate with us......that is to say.....that a spirit is conductive. The theory is that it can, but that remains to be proven.
The next sensor that could possibly be helpful is the accelerometer. This sensor can detect slight movements, and is pretty darn sensitive. The reason it may be helpful is that spirits are known to knock on walls or furniture, and people often hear footsteps. If this is the case, then we could use this as a seismometer (aka geophone). The only downfall would be proving this is paranormal and that something else is not causing the movements, such as other people walking around.
When we conduct an investigation, we turn off all cellphones because the signals they give off when searching for a tower or WIFI interferes with our equipment, especially the K2. The K2 will light up like a Christmas tree when anywhere near these signals. This is a problem when using apps, because the device has to be turned on to use them. I would say that if you are going to use an app, just forget about using any other equipment except a recorder during the time that you are actually using it...then turn the device off.
All of the below apps are available at the App Store. Click on icon to read app description.
